Wangdor Rinpoche

Lama Wangdor spent more than thirty years meditating in the caves first used by the Tibetan saint Padmasambava, above Tso Pema (Lotus Lake) in Northern India. After years in solitary retreat, he was eventually joined by more than fifty cave-dwelling yogis and yoginis who looked to him for guidance and support. In the 1970s, he began construction on a monastery near the lake as well as a retreat center that is available to practitioners of all lineages and nationalities.

He built the gigantic statue of Guru Padmasambhava overlooking the holy lotus lake and continues to help to support the many monks at Dzigar Monastery in Tso Pema, India for the reincarnation of his teacher Dzigar Rinpoche.
