Kunga Rinpoche

E-mail Print

Kyabje Kunga Rinpoche is the reincarnation of a great yogi from Lahaul (Garsha) in the Himalayan India, who was a direct disciple of Drubwang Shakya Shri, one of the most renowned yogis of the Drukpa Lineage in the last century. He spent the whole of his later life in a retreat at the holy Drilbu Mountain revered as the abode of Chakrasamvara, where Gyalwa Gotsangpa, one of the greatest yogis of the Drukpa Lineage in 13th century, meditated and practiced. At this holy site, he constructed an assembly hall, a house for yogic practices and a monks’ residence. Among all of these disciples, many arose as accomplished masters with perfected experience and realization. The second Kunga Rinpoche took rebirth as the son of his predecessor’s chief attendant. He had received all the teachings, trainings, vows and empowerments of the Drukpa Lineage from His Holiness Je Khenpo Kuenlay in Bhutan, thereafter he completed the traditional three-year retreat. His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa has also been personally training Kunga Rinpoche. He will soon be returning to Lahaul, to carry on the legacy left behind by his predecessor, continuing to lead others on the spiritual path to enlightenment.
